The rapid advancement of artificial intelligence has brought both innovations and alarming security threats. Celebrities and common citizens alike are increasingly falling victim to deepfake technology. Recently, actress Janhvi Kapoor expressed intense outrage after a morphed and obscene AI-generated video featuring her from the blockbuster song 'Chuttamalle' of the film 'Devara: Part 1' went viral on social media.
Taking to her Instagram stories, Janhvi issued a strong statement condemning the misuse of technology, equating it to sexual harassment. She emphasized that creating and circulating edited content of women without their explicit consent is a severe violation of their dignity. She noted that almost every woman in the film industry has faced such harassment in some form, and the menace has now expanded to digital platforms everywhere.
Superstars Rally Behind Janhvi Against Cyber Misconduct
Following the controversy, several prominent film personalities came forward to support Janhvi and speak out against the abuse of AI. Her 'Devara' co-star Junior NTR took immediate action by expressing deep displeasure and vowing to take strict legal measures against those responsible for creating and sharing the morphed clip. He asserted that such malicious acts will not be tolerated under any circumstances.
Mega star Chirंजीवी also voiced his serious concerns, stating on social media that generating derogatory and morphed videos using AI is terrifying and completely unacceptable. He urged that individuals who create and intentionally circulate such abusive content must be held legally accountable.
Yami Gautam Demands Protection Against AI Photo Manipulation
Amidst the growing deepfake controversy, National Award-winning actress Yami Gautam also issued a polite yet firm appeal to media outlets and social media platforms. She requested that artificial intelligence should not be used to alter, enhance, or manipulate her photographs taken during public appearances. Yami stressed that altering a person's appearance through AI without consent is inappropriate and photographs should strictly be used in their original form.
