The Indian automotive market is undergoing a massive transformation with the rising popularity of electric vehicles (EVs). Kia India has recently registered a historic month of August, dispatching a total of 29,042 passenger vehicles from its factory. This marks a solid 48 percent growth compared to the same month last year, making it the best August for the brand since its inception in India.
The star of this growth is the newly introduced Kia Syros EV. Initially launched in February last year as an ICE vehicle, it struggled to cross 1,000 units monthly. However, following the launch of its EV avatar in July, the vehicle witnessed an unprecedented surge. The company sold 1,742 units of the Syros EV in August, marking a staggering 466% year-on-year growth compared to just 308 units sold last August.
The Kia Syros EV comes with two battery options: a 42kWh and a 51.4kWh pack, offering a claimed driving range of 443KM and 526KM respectively. Priced between Rs 13.50 lakh and Rs 20 lakh (ex-showroom), it competes directly against popular electric offerings like the Tata Nexon EV and Mahindra XUV 3XO EV in the Indian market.
