Indian Railways Announces Special Train for Festive Season

The festive season in India brings immense joy, celebrations, and a massive surge in travel demand as millions of people head back to their hometowns. During festivals like Durga Puja, Diwali, and Chhath, regular trains experience unprecedented passenger rush, leading to long waiting lists and booking difficulties. To alleviate this recurring challenge, Indian Railways has stepped up efforts to operate special trains across key routes, ensuring smooth and hassle-free journeys for common citizens.

In line with this commitment, railway authorities have introduced a dedicated Puja Special Train connecting Kolkata and Alamnagar (Lucknow). This service is specifically designed to cater to travelers moving between West Bengal, Jharkhand, Bihar, and Uttar Pradesh. By adding this extra capacity, the railways aim to absorb the heavy passenger volume and reduce congestion on regular trunk routes during the peak festive months.

Schedule and Operational Details of the Special Service

According to the official notification, the Kolkata-Alamnagar Puja Special train (numbered 03107 and 03108) will operate during the months of October and November. A total of 14 trips have been scheduled, with 7 trips in each direction. This structured frequency ensures that passengers have adequate options to plan their return journeys well in advance without last-minute panics.

Train number 03107 will depart from Kolkata every Thursday on specific dates, including October 15, 22, 29, and November 5, 12, 19, and 26. Conversely, the return service, train number 03108, will run from Alamnagar every Saturday on October 17, 24, 31, and November 7, 14, 21, and 28. This well-planned schedule aligns perfectly with the weekend holiday rush during the festive period.

Strategic Halts and Timings at Major Junctions

The route encompasses several major transit hubs, with the halt at Gayaji Junction holding special significance for travelers across Bihar and Jharkhand. To maintain punctuality while facilitating passenger boarding, the stoppage duration at Gayaji has been kept optimal.

The eastbound train from Kolkata is scheduled to arrive at Gayaji Junction at approximately 9:10 AM, with a brief five-minute halt before resuming its journey at 9:15 AM. On the return leg, the train originating from Alamnagar will reach Gayaji at around 12:05 PM and depart at 12:10 PM. This precise scheduling ensures minimal delays while providing maximum accessibility to local commuters.
