Top Terrorist Commander Neutralized in Budgam
In a major success against terrorism in Jammu and Kashmir, security forces have eliminated top Lashkar-e-Tayyiba commander Suleman Shah alias 'Musa' during a fierce encounter in the Budgam district. Based on specific intelligence inputs, the joint operation was launched by the Indian Army and security agencies to dismantle the remaining terror infrastructure in the region.
According to officials, the operation began after security personnel noticed suspicious movements in the dense forest areas of central Kashmir. When challenged, the terrorists opened indiscriminate fire, leading to a heavy exchange of fire in which Musa was neutralized. His death marks a severe blow to the operational capabilities of the terror outfit in the valley.
The Strategic Execution of Operation Sheruwali
The elimination of Musa was part of a meticulously planned long-term campaign codenamed 'Operation Sheruwali', initiated in May. Security agencies had been tracking the movement patterns, logistics, and hideouts of active terrorists using advanced technical and human intelligence to restore absolute peace and order in the region.
The synergy between the Jammu and Kashmir Police, the Indian Army, and central intelligence agencies has yielded remarkable results over the past few years, systematically eliminating top leadership figures of various terror modules operating across the Pir Panjal mountain range.
Wiping Out the 2022 Terror Module
With Musa's death, security forces have successfully neutralized all four senior commanders of a special Lashkar-e-Tayyiba module active in the valley since 2022. This group was directly responsible for several heinous attacks, including the Halan, DKG, and Gagangir incidents. The sequential elimination of Junaid Bhat, Suleman, Yasir, and finally Musa has completely dismantled this lethal terror network.
