Indian Railways Undertakes Crucial Infrastructure Work Near Mokama
Indian Railways is continuously striving to upgrade its infrastructure to ensure safer and faster rail travel across the country. In line with this vision, significant engineering works are currently underway near the newly constructed rail bridge over the Ganga River in Mokama, Bihar. These crucial pre-interlocking and non-interlocking works span across key junctions including Rajendra Pul, Hathidah Junction Upper, Taal, Rampur Dumra, and Dinkar Gram Simariya Junction.
According to railway officials, these operational enhancements involve profound changes to railway tracks, signaling systems, and electronic interlocking points. Operating normal train services simultaneously amidst such heavy structural modifications poses safety risks. Consequently, the railway administration has made the administrative decision to temporarily cancel 14 trains and divert the routes of around 30 other express and passenger trains.
These modernization efforts are aimed at long-term efficiency, ensuring that once completed, the section will handle increased train frequencies with enhanced safety margins for millions of daily commuters.
List of Cancelled Trains Due to Ongoing Maintenance Block
The temporary mega block has significantly disrupted rail connectivity across Bihar, Jharkhand, and West Bengal. Among the cancelled services is the 13030 Mokama-Howrah Express, impacting passengers heading toward Kolkata. Similarly, popular intercity connections such as the 13227 Saharsa-Rajendranagar Intercity and 13228 Rajendranagar-Saharsa Intercity remain suspended.
Key regional routes connecting Mithिलांचल and the state capital, including the 15527 Jaynagar-Patna Express and 15528 Patna-Jaynagar Express, have also been called off for the day. Daily commuters dependent on MEMU fast passenger services, such as the 63275 Kiul-Patna MEMU and 63276 Patna-Kiul MEMU, will need to seek alternative modes of transport.
Other affected services include the 63204 Mokama-Kiul MEMU, 63229 Ara-Varanasi MEMU, 13029 Howrah-Mokama Express, 13031 Howrah-Jaynagar Express, 13032 Jaynagar-Howrah Express, 13127 Kolkata Terminal-Ara Garib Rath Express, and the 14003 Malda Town-New Delhi Express.
Alternative Routes and Passenger Advisory
In addition to cancellations, nearly 30 long-distance mail and express trains have been rerouted via alternative corridors. Passengers traveling along the Patna, Mokama, Kiul, Jaynagar, Saharsa, Howrah, Ara, and Varanasi corridors are urged to review their travel plans meticulously.
Railway authorities have urged commuters to utilize digital channels such as the NTES app or helpline number 139 to verify live train updates before arriving at railway stations, minimizing inconvenience during transit.
