Mukesh Khanna Raises Concerns Over Ramayana's Modern Action Sequences
The much-anticipated cinematic adaptation of 'Ramayana', directed by Nitesh Tiwari, has once again found itself at the center of a major debate. While the makers are striving to bring a grand visual spectacle to the big screen, veteran actor Mukesh Khanna has voiced strong reservations against the film's modern action choreography and the portrayal of Lord Rama.
Expressing his views during a recent media interaction, Khanna emphasized that while modernization and advanced VFX are welcome in contemporary filmmaking, they should not compromise the deep-rooted cultural and emotional reverence associated with India's epics.
Objection to Over-the-Top Combat and Tree-Climbing Stunts
The senior actor specifically pointed out certain action sequences shown in promotional materials, questioning the creative choice of showing Lord Rama engaged in gravity-defying stunts, such as shooting arrows while perched on a tree. According to Khanna, traditional depictions have always presented Rama as a composed, dignified, and serene warrior rather than a high-flying commercial action hero.

He warned that aiming for a global sci-fi appeal akin to international blockbusters might alienate domestic audiences whose core connection to the epic stems from pure devotion rather than visual entertainment alone.
