In a shocking incident highlighting changing criminal tactics, a college professor out for an evening walk was abducted, held hostage, and robbed digitally. The miscreants forced him to share his mobile password and UPI details at knifepoint, transferring around one lakh rupees to a woman's QR code.
Abducted During Evening Walk, Blindfolded and Threatened
According to police reports, degree college professor Kapurchand Gupta was taking his usual evening walk when two men intercepted him. They dragged him away, blindfolded him, and threatened to kill him with a knife. He was taken on a motorcycle to a secluded room in another area and held captive.
The kidnappers accessed his mobile phone, extracted details of his Google Pay and UPI accounts, and transferred money until the daily limit of one lakh rupees was exhausted by using a third-party QR code.
Family's Alertness Saves Victim, Main Accused Arrested
Although the captors forced the professor to make a call assuring his family of his safety, the family grew suspicious and tracked his location. Sensing the family's approach, the criminals fled, and police were immediately alerted.

Acting swiftly, police rescued the professor and arrested the main accused, Sunil Sarthi, within 24 hours. Investigations into the digital transactions and other accomplices are currently underway.
