Vladimir Putin Praises PM Modi at Valdai Forum
Russian President Vladimir Putin has openly appreciated Prime Minister Narendra Modi's diplomatic efforts regarding the ongoing Ukraine conflict. Speaking at the prestigious Valdai Forum in Sochi, Putin highlighted that despite strong, friendly relations between Russia and India, PM Modi consistently raises the issue of finding a peaceful resolution to the war.
Putin noted that India's balanced and independent foreign policy has earned it tremendous respect on the global stage. While Western nations have criticized India for maintaining ties with Moscow, global leaders increasingly recognize New Delhi's potential to bridge divides and foster constructive dialogue.
PM Modi Has Good Ideas to End the Conflict
Elaborating on his discussions with the Indian Prime Minister, the Russian leader stated that PM Modi harbors a deep interest in restoring peace and possesses practical, well-thought-out ideas to achieve a mutually acceptable settlement.
"Prime Minister Narendra Modi is among those global leaders who, despite our very close and friendly relations, constantly raise the question of ending the conflict in Ukraine. He has very good ideas for finding mutually acceptable solutions,"— Vladimir Putin, President of Russia
Putin emphasized that while India maintains a principled and neutral stance on the matter, its genuine desire to see a swift end to hostilities is commendable and appreciated by the Russian administration.
Expanding Economic Ties and the INSTC Project
Beyond geopolitical discussions, the Valdai Forum also focused on bolstering economic cooperation between Russia and its Asian partners. President Putin expressed strong commitment to advancing the International North-South Transport Corridor (INSTC) project in collaboration with India.
The transport corridor aims to link Indian ports through Iran and the Caspian Sea directly to Russia and Northern Europe, significantly reducing transit time and trade costs. Putin's remarks signal a deepening strategic and economic partnership designed to withstand future global uncertainties.
