Model Code of Conduct Withdrawn Across Rajasthan Urban Bodies
In a significant political and administrative development in Rajasthan, the State Election Commission has officially announced the removal of the model code of conduct with immediate effect following the successful completion of urban local body elections. An official communication regarding this decision was dispatched by the Chief Electoral Officer and Secretary of the Commission to the Chief Secretary.
While the code of conduct was earlier lifted in most urban local bodies once voting concluded there, the remaining civic bodies had to complete their electoral cycles. Now that the entire election process across the state has reached its logical conclusion, all restrictions tied to the code of conduct have officially come to an end.
Relief for Government Officials and Transferred Employees
The lifting of the code of conduct brings immense relief to government employees and administrative officers. Earlier, the Election Commission had imposed strict restrictions on relieving and joining duties for officials until the upcoming general elections of Panchayati Raj institutions concluded. This rule had put several transferred employees in a state of limbo.
With the relaxation now provided by the commission, officers and employees whose transfers were finalized earlier but were unable to assume charge due to code restrictions can now proceed to their new postings and join duty without any further administrative hurdles.
Focus Shifts Toward Upcoming Panchayati Raj Elections
With urban elections now out of the way, the political focus in the state has completely shifted toward the upcoming Panchayati Raj institution elections. Preparations at the district council, panchayat committee, and village panchayat levels were already underway behind the scenes, and an official announcement regarding rural polls is widely anticipated soon.
