Rajasthan Weather Update After Monsoon Withdrawal

With the withdrawal of monsoon clouds from various parts of the country, weather patterns have shifted dramatically. In Rajasthan, the monsoon remained largely subdued this year, recording about 22 percent less rainfall than the seasonal average. This deficit has directly impacted the early days of October, where autumn chill has taken a backseat to persistent heat.

Daytime temperatures remain stubbornly high, causing discomfort for residents across urban and rural areas. Without adequate soil moisture due to scanty rains, atmospheric humidity has dropped, preventing any significant dip in the mercury levels. Major western and northern districts are experiencing unusually warm days for this time of the year.

Meteorological Department's October Forecast

The Meteorological Center in New Delhi has released its weather forecast for October, predicting that day and night temperatures will stay above normal across most parts of Rajasthan. This indicates a delayed onset of winter chill, with evenings remaining relatively warmer than usual.

While northern areas like Shekhawati, Udaipur, and Sirohi are reporting nighttime lows hovering around 20 degrees Celsius, daytime highs in Pilani, Churu, Sri Ganganagar, Jaisalmer, and Phalodi continue to touch 37 to 38 degrees Celsius, with Phalodi emerging as the hottest spot.

Localized Rains Provide Brief Respite

Despite the overall dry spell, isolated pockets have witnessed unexpected weather changes. Rajsamand recorded light showers with 16 mm of rainfall in Amet, while Bundi and Tonk experienced good spells of rain previously, bringing momentary relief from the oppressive humidity.

Experts suggest that upcoming western disturbances might bring localized rainfall to the Bikaner division, though the rest of the state is expected to remain largely dry with above-average temperatures persisting through the month.
