Bollywood actress and Member of Parliament Kangana Ranaut has once again drawn sharp criticism from the film fraternity. Former film critic turned talent agency executive Rajeev Masand recently opened up about the actress's career trajectory, expressing deep disappointment over how her public image has overtaken her acting prowess.
During a candid podcast interview, Masand remarked that he deeply misses the dedicated actress that Kangana used to be. He pointed out that ever since her entry into active politics—winning the Lok Sabha election from Mandi, Himachal Pradesh, on a BJP ticket—her primary focus has shifted away from cinema.
Challenging the Industry Bias Narrative
Addressing Kangana's recurring claims about nepotism and industry bigwigs denying her opportunities, Masand outrightly dismissed the narrative. He argued that while struggle is a part of every newcomer's journey, the Hindi film industry ultimately bows to commercial success and raw talent.
"It's an easy narrative to keep repeating. But the truth is, Bollywood respects success. Everyone wants to work with someone who delivers hits at the box office," Masand stated during the interview.
Nostalgia for 'Queen' and Future Prospects
Recalling her stellar performance in Vikas Bahl's 2014 coming-of-age drama 'Queen', Masand praised her natural acting abilities. He mentioned that he would love to see the duo reunite for a potential sequel, provided the actress steps away from her current political controversies and redirects her energy solely toward artistic excellence.
