Ahead of the crucial Uttar Pradesh Legislative Council (MLC) elections, the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party has suffered a major jolt. Disgruntled leader Dr. Sanjay Tripathi, who was at odds with the party leadership over ticket distribution and alleged neglect of loyal cadres, has officially joined the Samajwadi Party. The development has significantly altered the political equations in the region.
During a formal induction ceremony at the Samajwadi Party headquarters in Lucknow, party chief Akhilesh Yadav welcomed Dr. Tripathi into the party fold. In a swift strategic move, the party announced him as its official candidate for the Gorakhpur-Faizabad teacher constituency, replacing the earlier declared nominee Kamlesh Yadav.
Political analysts believe that Tripathi's switch will add a new dimension to the upcoming electoral battle, especially given his deep-rooted background in the region and his initial political grooming linked with Gorakhnath Peeth. The high-stakes contest for the 11 MLC seats has now intensified with parties recalibrating their strategies ahead of the polling date.
