The Launch of a Nationwide Administrative Cleanup
In a continuous effort to make the administrative machinery more transparent, efficient, and responsive to the public, the central government has rolled out the framework for 'Special Campaign 6.0' for the year 2026. Following the guidelines of the Department of Administrative Reforms and Public Grievances (DARPG), the Department of Pension and Pensioners' Welfare (DoPPW) has kicked off elaborate preparations. The primary objective of this massive administrative drive is to clear pending files, strengthen internal monitoring mechanisms, and eliminate bureaucratic delays.
This upcoming phase is slated to run officially from October 2, 2026, to October 31, 2026. However, preparatory phases are already underway to ensure that all targeted milestones are achieved seamlessly. By institutionalizing better record management practices and improving workplace cleanliness, the government aims to enhance overall governance standards and improve the ease of living for common citizens.
Clear Targets for Grievance Redressal and File Management
To ensure measurable outcomes, the DoPPW has set specific, quantifiable targets for the campaign duration. Authorities plan to dispose of approximately 6,500 public grievances and 800 appeals. Furthermore, 847 physical files and 653 electronic files have been specifically identified for rigorous review and weeding out where necessary.
A dedicated task force has been assigned to monitor the backlog and ensure that old cases are resolved on an absolute priority basis. Officials have been instructed to optimize internal processes so that citizens experience minimum friction when interacting with government departments.
Nationwide Cleanliness Drive and Environmental Initiatives
Beyond file management, the campaign places a massive emphasis on cleanliness and environmental sustainability. In coordination with central government pensioners' associations, the department has identified 21 key cleanliness sites across the country where intensive sanitation drives will be conducted.
During the preparatory phase, senior officials inspected these locations on-ground to guarantee high standards. Additionally, under the 'Swachhata Hi Seva' initiative, Union Minister Dr. Jitendra Singh, Pension Secretary Nivedita Shukla Verma, and other top officials are scheduled to participate in a major tree plantation drive at the CSOI Vinay Marg Sports Complex in New Delhi.
Enhancing Ease of Living for Pensioners
Senior citizens and pensioners remain a core focus of this administrative exercise. To foster greater ease of living, the department plans to issue 23 new office memorandums aimed at simplifying existing rules and regulations. These revisions are designed to remove procedural bottlenecks and ensure smoother service delivery for retired government personnel.
Transparent Daily Digital Monitoring
To maintain absolute accountability, a dedicated monitoring team will track the daily progress of the campaign. All achievements, file reviews, and grievance closures will be uploaded regularly onto the centralized SCDPM portal managed by DARPG. This digital transparency ensures that targets are met efficiently without any administrative slack.
