A shocking instance of administrative fraud has surfaced in Srinagar, where an individual managed to serve as a government school teacher and draw regular salaries for thirteen long years without possessing any legitimate appointment. The scandal has sent ripples through the educational administration, raising serious questions about document verification protocols.
The Directorate of School Education Kashmir has issued a decisive order declaring the purported appointment of Imtiyaz Ahmad, a resident of Rawalpora, Srinagar, null and void ab initio. According to official records, the accused was ostensibly positioned as a teacher at the Government Middle School Gagribal in the Nishat area of Srinagar.
How the 13-Year-Old Fraud Unfolded
Departmental files initially reflected that Ahmad's entry into government service dated back to April 2013, supposedly as a laboratory assistant under a government order, followed by a purported confirmation letter issued by the education directorate. However, these documents crumbled under intense administrative scrutiny when internal audits were initiated.
The scam began to unravel when authorities noticed that Ahmad had been unauthorizedly absent from his duties since February 2024. During the subsequent investigation into his service records, it was discovered that the foundational appointment orders, confirmation letters, and even a subsequent 2018 promotion order were entirely fabricated and never issued by any competent authority.
Strict Recovery and Administrative Action
Acting upon the findings of the departmental inquiry, the education directorate invoked strict punitive measures. All financial benefits, salaries, and allowances disbursed to Ahmad over the past thirteen years have been ordered to be recovered in full through appropriate legal and administrative mechanisms.
"The appointment based on forged credentials has been completely annulled, and orders have been issued to recover every single penny of public money drawn illegally by the individual." — Departmental Official, Srinagar
This incident has prompted educational authorities to review service records across various districts to ensure that no other fraudulent appointments remain undetected within the system, reinforcing the need for stringent digital verification of government credentials.
