Political Violence Flares Up in West Bengal
In yet another instance of escalating political unrest in West Bengal, a controversy has erupted in the Hooghly district following an attack on the vehicle of senior Trinamool Congress (TMC) leader and MLA Kunal Ghosh. The incident took place in the Uttarpara area as Ghosh was traveling to Srirampur to attend a massive public rally addressed by Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee. Unidentified miscreants suddenly surrounded his convoy, creating a volatile situation on the streets.
According to eyewitness accounts, the unruly mob was waving black flags and raising slogans against the ruling party. The situation quickly turned violent when some individuals began pounding on the bonnet and windows of the vehicle. Within moments, the mob started pelting stones and throwing eggs at the car, resulting in extensive damage and shattering the rear windshield completely.
Fortunately, MLA Kunal Ghosh escaped the incident without any physical injuries and remained safe. However, the audacious attack has sent shockwaves through the state's political landscape, raising serious concerns regarding the overall law and order situation in the region.
Viral Video Evidence and Strong Rebuttal from Ghosh
A video capturing the chaotic moments of the attack has surfaced on social media platforms, showing the aggressive crowd swarming the vehicle and vandalizing it. The widespread circulation of this footage has put immense pressure on local law enforcement agencies to track down the perpetrators swiftly.
Reacting sharply to the incident, Kunal Ghosh didn't mince words and labeled the attack as a sign of 'jungle raj' prevailing in certain pockets. He alleged that the attackers deliberately blocked the road and orchestrated the assault without a single police personnel present at the scene to maintain order. Ghosh announced his decision to cut short his trip and return straight to Kolkata to register a formal and stringent complaint at Lalbazar or Bhabani Bhavan.

TMC leaders squarely blamed the BJP for orchestrating the violence, calling it a pre-planned conspiracy rather than spontaneous public anger.
