A New Digital Era for Government Publicity: Beneficiaries to Create Reels
In today's digital-first world, governments are constantly evolving their outreach strategies to connect directly with citizens. Taking a major step in this direction, the Uttar Pradesh government has rolled out an innovative initiative where beneficiaries of various state schemes will share their success stories through social media reels rather than relying solely on traditional paperwork.
Titled the 'Seva Ki Kahani-Digital and Reel Campaign', this initiative mandates administrative bodies and local entrepreneurs to showcase grassroots development through modern digital platforms. The primary objective is to make real-life success stories accessible to potential beneficiaries, inspiring youth and traditional artisans to leverage state support for self-employment.
Empowering MSMEs and Artisans Through Digital Outreach
The campaign primarily focuses on flagship programs run by the District Industries and Enterprise Promotion Centre. Key schemes such as the Chief Minister Youth Self-Employment Scheme, the Chief Minister Youth Entrepreneur Development Campaign, One District One Product (ODOP), and the Vishwakarma Shram Samman Yojana are at the core of this initiative.
Local youth, micro and small entrepreneurs, handicraft makers, and traditional artisans who have successfully established their ventures with government aid are now being encouraged to narrate their journeys via short-form video reels. This peer-to-peer communication builds immense trust and authenticity among prospective applicants.
Strict Monitoring and District-Wise Digital Rankings
Unlike routine reporting methods that only highlight financial expenditures and loan disbursements, the new guidelines require a comprehensive breakdown of digital engagement. Districts must now report the number of reels created by beneficiaries, department officials, local public representatives, and social media influencers.
Furthermore, authorities are evaluating districts based on their overall digital footprint. Once the campaign concludes, the state government will release official rankings of districts based on the effectiveness and reach of their digital promotional activities, fostering a healthy competitive spirit among local administration units.
