Weather Turns Severe in Uttar Pradesh, Emergency Review Meetings Held
The weather in Uttar Pradesh has taken a dramatic turn, prompting the administration to step up its preparedness. With continuous rainfall and grim warnings issued by the weather department, the government has activated disaster management units across various districts to tackle any untoward situations.
According to the meteorological center, several parts of the state will witness heavy to very heavy downpours over the coming days. Top disaster management officials have reviewed ground-level readiness with field staff, aiming to protect civilian lives and ensure quick mitigation of waterlogging or flood-like threats.
Strict Directives from Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath
Recognizing the gravity of the situation, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has issued firm instructions to district magistrates and senior officials. He emphasized that every weather warning must be taken seriously, urging field officers to step out of their offices and actively monitor the ground reality. The CM also suggested shutting down schools in districts under red alert depending on local conditions.
The government has mandated that financial assistance and relief materials must reach families affected by heavy rains and lightning within 24 hours. Officials are closely tracking ground developments to ensure seamless relief operations.
Vulnerable Districts Under Flood and Waterlogging Risk
Weather reports highlight a red alert for heavy downpours in districts including Lakhimpur Kheri, Sitapur, Siddharthnagar, Gonda, Balrampur, Shravasti, Bahraich, Rampur, Bareilly, Pilibhit, and Shahjahanpur. Special vigilance is being maintained to counter rising river water levels. Meanwhile, an orange alert has been issued for Banda, Chitrakoot, Prayagraj, Lucknow, Ayodhya, and Gorakhpur.
Authorities are urging residents near riverbanks and low-lying areas to relocate to safer locations, while rescue teams remain stationed for swift interventions.
Focus on Fragile Dwellings and Relief Camps
Addressing the risk faced by people living in dilapidated houses and huts, the administration is identifying vulnerable structures and shifting residents to nearby relief camps. Basic necessities like food and medical aid are being arranged at these shelters to ensure the safety of marginalized communities during the inclement weather.
