Deepening Economic and Strategic Ties Between India and US
The diplomatic and commercial relations between New Delhi and Washington have witnessed unprecedented growth over the past year. Beyond traditional diplomacy, both nations are expanding their cooperation in key sectors, particularly energy security and international trade. In a significant development, the United States has now become the largest exporter of Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG) to India.
Senior US Department of State official Bethany Morrison shared these insights during a comprehensive briefing at the New York Foreign Press Center. She emphasized that the scope of bilateral engagement has widened dramatically, encompassing energy, defense, trade, and diplomacy.
Diversification of India's Energy Basket
Energy security remains a paramount objective for rapidly growing economies. India has consistently pursued a policy of diversifying its energy sources to ensure stable and uninterrupted supplies for its domestic industries and citizens. By emerging as a leading energy supplier, the United States has successfully stepped in to meet these critical demands.
"We are proud that the US is now the largest exporter of LPG to India. As India diversifies its energy sources, we are thrilled to be a major supplier." — Bethany Morrison, Senior Official, US Department of State
This evolving partnership ensures greater price stability and robust supply chains, reinforcing the economic foundation that underpins the broader geopolitical alliance between the two countries in the Indo-Pacific region.
