Indian Railways continues to upgrade its massive transit network to provide faster and more comfortable journeys for citizens. In a major development, the operation of a state-of-the-art Vande Bharat Sleeper train has been officially approved between Varanasi and New Delhi. This premium train service aims to drastically reduce travel time and elevate passenger comfort across Uttar Pradesh and the national capital.
Designed to cater to long-distance travelers, business professionals, and tourists alike, the train will traverse through some of the most critical transit hubs in northern India. The introduction of this service marks another milestone in the modernization roadmap of the national transporter.
Route and Schedule Details
According to the tentative schedule released by railway authorities, the Vande Bharat Sleeper train will depart from Varanasi Junction at 8:40 PM daily. It will reach Prayagraj Junction at 10:05 PM and make a scheduled halt at Kanpur Central at 11:50 PM. Continuing its overnight run, the train is slated to arrive at New Delhi Railway Station by 4:50 AM the following morning.
This efficient schedule ensures that the total travel time between Varanasi and New Delhi will be approximately 8 hours and 10 minutes. By operating overnight, the train allows passengers to save valuable daytime hours while enjoying a restful journey in modern sleeper berths.

Special Trains to Ease Festive Rush
In addition to the Vande Bharat announcement, Indian Railways has lined up several special train services to manage seasonal passenger rushes. A dedicated special train between Kanpur Central and SMVT Bengaluru has been announced to facilitate southern connectivity, operating weekly with comprehensive halts across major junctions.
Furthermore, special services connecting Chandigarh and Firozpur with Patna have been scheduled to accommodate travelers heading towards Bihar. These multi-trip special trains will pass through prominent stations including Ambala Cantt, Moradabad, Bareilly, Varanasi, and Danapur, ensuring seamless transit during peak periods.
