New Weather System Forms Over Bay of Bengal
As the monsoon season nears its conclusion in several parts of the country, a fresh and powerful weather system has formed over the Bay of Bengal, threatening to unleash heavy downpours. The low-pressure area is rapidly intensifying, and meteorological experts predict it will trigger a fresh spell of heavy rainfall across eastern and southern states over the coming days.
The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued advisories regarding high wind speeds and turbulent sea conditions in the affected coastal belts. Fishermen and shipping authorities have been strongly advised to avoid venturing into rough waters as the system gathers strength.
Uttar Pradesh Braces for Heavy Showers
The impact of this weather system will extend well beyond the coast, reaching the plains of northern India. The IMD forecasts a sudden weather shift in eastern and western Uttar Pradesh starting after September 24. Several districts are expected to experience thunderstorms, lightning, and good spells of rainfall.
Districts likely to be affected include Agra, Aligarh, Meerut, Muzaffarnagar, Kanpur, Lucknow, Varanasi, Ayodhya, and Gorakhpur. Local administrations have been directed to remain vigilant against potential waterlogging and crop damage.
Coastal Alert Issued for Odisha and Andhra Pradesh
The depression is projected to reach near the coasts of southern Odisha and northern Andhra Pradesh by September 23, bringing extremely heavy rainfall and gale-force winds. State governments are stepping up precautionary measures, including evacuation plans for vulnerable low-lying coastal areas.
Authorities have reiterated strict warnings for fishermen along the coasts of Andhra Pradesh, Odisha, and West Bengal, urging them to stay off the sea until weather conditions stabilize completely.
