Grand Opening of Rangilo Gramin Utsav 2026 at BHU
Varanasi is currently hosting a unique cultural and agricultural extravaganza as the two-day ‘Rangilo-Gramin Utsav 2026’ commenced at the helipad ground of Banaras Hindu University (BHU). Jointly organized by the National Dairy Development Board (NDDB) and NDDB Dairy Services, the mega event has brought together farmers, dairy experts, researchers, and industry representatives onto a single platform to celebrate rural progress and animal husbandry.
The festival aims to highlight the remarkable advancements taking place in the dairy and rural development sectors. Farmers from several states have travelled to Varanasi with their prized livestock, transforming the BHU campus into a vibrant hub of agricultural heritage and modern scientific livestock management.
Collaborative Efforts by Government and NDDB
Uttar Pradesh Animal Husbandry and Dairy Development Minister Dharampal Singh inaugurated the event, emphasizing the importance of scientific dairy management, indigenous breed improvement, and robust animal healthcare services. NDDB Chairman Dr. Meenesh Shah discussed plans to revive and operate dairy plants across several districts in Uttar Pradesh, including Varanasi, Kanpur, and Gorakhpur, to ensure sustainable income opportunities for farmers.
Senior officials highlighted the pivotal role played by the dairy sector in women empowerment, rural employment, and nutritional security. The event serves as a bridge, connecting grassroots cattle rearers with government welfare schemes and financial assistance programs.
Cattle Rearers and High-Yield Breeds Take Center Stage
Farmers from 10 to 12 states—including Haryana, Punjab, Uttarakhand, Madhya Pradesh, and Uttar Pradesh—have brought magnificent breeds of cows, buffaloes, goats, and horses to the venue. Exhibiting the best livestock in the country, these farmers are participating in competitive evaluations based on milk-yielding capacity and health standards.
