Former Wrestling Federation of India (WFI) president and former BJP MP Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh has once again stirred controversy with his fresh claims regarding Patanjali products, specifically its cow ghee. Singh revealed that after he raised questions in public regarding the purity of ghee sold under the brand name of Maharishi Patanjali, Acharya Balkrishna, the Managing Director of Patanjali Ayurved, personally telephoned him the very next day.
Singh, known for his outspoken nature in Uttar Pradesh politics, stated that he bears no personal animosity against anyone. However, he emphasized that he will continue to raise his voice for public health, quality standards, and the welfare of local dairy farmers who work tirelessly to produce authentic milk products.
Details of the Phone Call with Acharya Balkrishna
According to Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh, his public remarks challenging the claims made by Patanjali created widespread headlines. "The very next day after my statement, Acharya Balkrishna Ji called me up to discuss the matter," Singh disclosed during a media interaction.
Singh stated that during the telephonic conversation, he firmly conveyed his perspective to Balkrishna. He highlighted that ancient Indian sages like Maharishi Patanjali hold sacred reverence in the country, and using such esteemed revered names for commercial products demands absolute honesty and uncompromised quality.
"I told Balkrishna Ji clearly that since you are conducting business under the revered name of Maharishi Patanjali, your responsibility is immense. If the public does not receive pure ghee and misleading advertisements continue, questions will naturally be raised."
— Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh, Former MP
Focus on Pure Food and Dairy Farmers' Rights
Singh emphasized that his crusade is aimed at protecting consumer health and supporting rural milk producers. He pointed out that corporate brands often capture large market shares using aggressive marketing campaigns, while traditional cattle rearers struggle for fair prices. He insisted that consumers paying premium prices for branded ghee deserve 100% purity without adulteration.
This disclosure comes against the backdrop of earlier legal battles involving Patanjali Ayurved. The Supreme Court of India had previously issued stern warnings and reprimands to Patanjali and its founders, Baba Ramdev and Acharya Balkrishna, over misleading advertisements regarding medicinal cures and healthcare products, leading to unconditional apologies in court.
So far, Patanjali Ayurved has not issued an official response to Singh's latest claims, but the former MP's statements have reignited debate over product quality standards in the FMCG sector.
