Major Push for Education and Sports Infrastructure in Ghumarwin
Himachal Pradesh Technical Education and Town Planning Minister Rajesh Dharmani has stated, during a recent sports event, that the state government is prioritizing the comprehensive expansion of education, sports, and basic infrastructure in the Ghumarwin assembly constituency. He emphasized that the administration's primary goal is to provide modern facilities and better opportunities for the youth.
The minister was addressing the gathering as the chief guest during the closing ceremony of a three-day district-level sports competition held at PM Shri Government Senior Secondary School, Ghumarwin, which saw enthusiastic participation from around 521 students across 47 schools.
Remarkable Improvement in Himachal's National Education Ranking
Highlighting the state's progress in academics, Dharmani referred to the National Achievement Survey, noting that Himachal Pradesh stood at the 21st position nationally in 2021, but climbed to an impressive 3rd position by 2024 due to targeted administrative reforms and educational initiatives.
He added that the government is actively connecting state-run schools with CBSE affiliation, with 30 additional senior secondary schools approved in January 2026 to ensure world-class learning standards for students.
New Sports Hostels and Indoor Stadiums Underway
To foster sports talent, the minister announced a newly notified handball hostel for girls in Mor Singhri and a 100-capacity sports hostel in Ghumarwin. Furthermore, an indoor stadium featuring a national-level swimming pool is under construction near the court in Ghumarwin with an estimated cost of 35 crore rupees.
Additional sports projects, including a full-sized football ground in Buddaghat and stadiums in Karloti and Bharari, are actively progressing to give rural youth professional sports exposure.
