Hospitals are places where people come seeking healing and a new lease on life. However, patients at a government community health center in Uttar Pradesh experienced a nightmare on Friday afternoon when a massive six-foot-long snake slithered into the premises near the laboratory.
Around 2 PM, as patients and their attendants waited for consultations, the reptile suddenly appeared near the testing lab. The unexpected sight of a large snake created widespread panic. People scrambled to save themselves, triggering chaos inside the health facility. Pregnant women, children, and elderly patients ran for safety, completely terrified by the sudden presence of the venomous creature.
Rescue by Snake Charmer Averts Major Disaster
Recognizing the grave danger, authorities immediately summoned a local snake charmer. Displaying remarkable presence of mind, a young boy accompanying the charmer managed to safely capture the serpent after a tense struggle. The snake was secured and later released into a nearby forest. While the successful rescue prevented any casualties, the incident severely questioned the hygiene and safety standards maintained at the public healthcare facility.
Poor Drainage and Garbage Cited as Root Causes
Hospital superintendent Dr. PK Singh addressed the incident, pointing out severe structural and sanitation issues. He revealed that the main drainage system surrounding the hospital is heavily choked, leading to stagnant water and accumulated garbage. This unclean environment attracts frogs and rodents, which in turn draw venomous snakes toward the building.
Despite repeated complaints to local civic authorities regarding garbage clearance and drain cleaning, no effective action has been taken. With hundreds of vulnerable citizens, including infants and senior citizens visiting the facility daily, civic authorities have been urged to fix the sanitation issues urgently to prevent future mishaps.
