Property-related frauds and violent robberies have been on the rise, and a shocking new case has come to light where a lawyer was duped and robbed of a massive amount in broad daylight. The fraudsters lured the victim under the guise of selling a plot, called him to collect a receipt, and fled after brandishing a gun. The chilling incident, captured on a nearby CCTV camera, has quickly gone viral on social media.
How the Trap Was Laid
The victim, Shashank, resides in Meerut and practices at Delhi's Tis Hazari Court. He was introduced to a man named Harpreet through an acquaintance named Sohel. Harpreet allegedly showed a 200-yard plot in a new society via video call and finalized the deal for 40 lakh rupees.
As per the plan, Harpreet asked Shashank to bring an advance payment of 20 lakh rupees in exchange for an official receipt. Believing the fraudsters, Shashank reached the designated spot along with his friend in the early hours of the morning.
Gunpoint Robbery Caught on Camera
The accused were waiting in a car near a petrol pump on the highway. During the conversation, as Shashank opened the bag to show the cash, one of the accomplices immediately drew a pistol. The accused snatched the bag containing 20 lakh rupees and attempted to flee.
When the lawyer tried to stop them by holding onto the bonnet of the speeding car, the criminals accelerated, throwing him onto the road and causing injuries. Police have registered a case based on the victim's complaint and are analyzing CCTV footage to track down the culprits.
