Honda Rebel 500 Recall: Important Update for Riders
Honda Motorcycle & Scooter India has issued an important technical update regarding its premium cruiser bike, the Honda Rebel 500. Prioritizing safety standards, the company has decided to recall a selective batch of units currently present in the market. In the automotive sector, such recall campaigns are typically initiated when a specific component requires attention to avert potential future glitches.
This global recall initiative ensures that every vehicle reaching customers remains completely safe and flawless. Such quality check procedures underscore the brand's commitment to consumer safety and satisfaction.
What is the Technical Flaw?
The core issue revolves around a specific screw associated with the handlebar-lock mechanism. During assembly, this screw may not have been tightened according to the specified torque standards. Over time and under prolonged usage on various road conditions, this screw could potentially loosen, which might slightly impact the steering movement.
However, the company has clarified that no incidents or accidents related to this potential flaw have been reported so far. This preventive measure aims to eliminate any risks before they materialize.
Affected Units and Timeline
According to official data, a total of 96 motorcycles sold in India are affected by this campaign. These units were manufactured between April 2025 and August 2025. Other production batches remain completely unaffected and safe.
"Customer safety is our utmost priority. Although no complaints have been registered, we are proactively replacing the handlebar-lock fixing screw free of charge." — Technical Service Head, HMSI
Free of Cost Replacement and Verification Process
Honda will replace the affected component entirely free of cost, regardless of the vehicle's warranty status. The campaign will officially roll out in the first week of November. Customers can verify their vehicle status by visiting the official Honda Motorcycle & Scooter India website, navigating to the Recall Campaign section, and entering their 17-digit VIN (Vehicle Identification Number).
