Honda Motorcycle and Scooter India recorded an impressive performance in August, driven largely by the massive popularity of its commuter motorcycle lineup. The company's focus on fuel efficiency, reliability, and affordable pricing continues to resonate deeply with everyday commuters and families across the country.
Strong Growth Across Total Two-Wheeler Portfolio
According to industry data, Honda Two-Wheeler India retailed a total of 5,17,331 units during the month of August. Compared to the same period in August 2025, the company's total sales witnessed a notable increase of 7.54 percent, translating to an additional 36,273 units sold. Month-on-month growth was also positive, showing an 8.58 percent rise compared to July, when the company sold 4,76,436 units.
While the Honda Activa remains the undisputed leader in the scooter segment, the Honda Shine series takes the crown in the motorcycle category. Available in multiple engine configurations including 100cc and 125cc options, the Shine brand has cemented its position as a household name across urban and rural markets alike.
Honda Shine Crosses 1.80 Lakh Unit Sales
The Shine nameplate alone accounted for a staggering 1,80,626 motorcycle sales in August. This represents a solid 10 percent year-on-year growth compared to August 2025, when the company sold 1,63,963 units under the same badge. The combination of the Shine 125 and SP 125 models alone contributed 1,60,731 units to this impressive tally, highlighting strong consumer preference for reliable mid-capacity commuters.
Meanwhile, the entry-level Honda Shine 100 continued to attract budget-conscious buyers, recording 19,895 unit sales in August. Despite stiff competition in the entry-level commuter segment, the model remains a preferred choice for cost-effective daily travel.
Pricing and Technical Specifications
The Honda Shine 100 starts at an attractive ex-showroom price of around Rs 65,642 in New Delhi. The popular Shine 125 begins at Rs 87,081, while the sportier Honda SP 125 is priced from Rs 97,335 onwards. Mechanically, the Shine 125 features a 123.94cc four-stroke engine pushing out 8kW of power and 10.9 Nm of torque, whereas the Shine 100 is powered by a 98.98cc engine delivering 5.43kW of power and 8.05 Nm of torque, ensuring optimum fuel efficiency for daily riders.
