Reliance Jio users might soon have to shell out more money for mobile recharges. Brokerage firm Centrum Broking has projected that Reliance Jio could hike its tariffs by around 12% over the next 3 to 4 months. However, the telecom giant has not yet made any official statement regarding a price hike.
Why Are Tariffs Expected to Rise?
For telecom operators, simply adding new subscribers is no longer the sole driver of revenue growth. Companies are increasingly focused on improving ARPU (Average Revenue Per User). With digital consumption, 5G services, and mobile data usage hitting record highs, operators are looking to boost their returns on massive network investments by recalibrating their pricing strategies.
Will Other Telecom Operators Follow Suit?
The trend of potential price revisions is not limited to Jio alone. Industry analysts suggest that overall mobile tariffs across the Indian telecom sector could see an upward revision of 12% to 15% in the medium term. Airtel has already adjusted some of its postpaid pricing structures, indicating a broader industry shift toward enhancing profitability.
