LPG Price Hike: Commercial cylinders get expensive ahead of festive season, check city rates

Commercial LPG Cylinder Prices Hiked Ahead of Festive Season

The beginning of October has brought a fresh bout of inflation for businesses and commercial establishments as oil marketing companies have revised LPG rates upward. While household consumers have been granted relief with no changes to the 14.2 kg domestic LPG cylinder prices, 19 kg commercial cylinders have become significantly costlier across various states and union territories.

According to the official pricing updates released by fuel retailers, commercial cylinder rates have gone up in major metropolitan areas including Delhi, Mumbai, Chennai, and Patna. Industry experts note that the rising costs of commercial cooking gas during the peak festive season could put additional pressure on restaurant owners, hoteliers, and small food business operators.

Global crude oil benchmarks and foreign exchange rates serve as the foundational elements for monthly LPG price revisions. Due to fluctuating geopolitical scenarios and shifting international energy markets, the pricing matrix has been adjusted to reflect these global dynamics while attempting to insulate the retail domestic sector from extreme shocks.

City-Wise Breakdown of New Commercial LPG Rates

In the national capital, the price of a 19 kg commercial cylinder has been increased by Rs 62.50, taking the new retail rate to Rs 2,810 compared to the previous month's Rs 2,747.50. Similarly, in India's financial hub Mumbai, commercial cylinders are now priced at Rs 2,764, marking an increase of Rs 63 from the earlier rate of Rs 2,701.

In Chennai, commercial cylinders now cost Rs 2,983, up from Rs 2,916.50. Regional hubs like Lucknow, Bhopal, and Patna have also witnessed proportional hikes ranging between Rs 60 to Rs 72 per cylinder. Remote geographical terrains such as Leh and Tawang continue to record the highest rates due to extensive transportation logistics, with Leh registering the highest commercial cylinder price across the country.

Relief for Domestic LPG Consumers

Amidst the commercial price hikes, household consumers continue to enjoy stable rates for 14.2 kg domestic cylinders. Government oversight and public sector oil companies have ensured that domestic prices remain unchanged in major cities, providing substantial protection to ordinary families against volatile global energy pricing trends.
