Surging Demand for Maruti Cars Ahead of Festive Season

The Indian passenger vehicle market is witnessing an unprecedented wave of demand as the festive season approaches. Consumers are thronging showrooms to bring home new vehicles, and market leader Maruti Suzuki India Limited is leading the pack. Recent industry data reveals that the company's pending booking backlog has comfortably crossed the 2-lakh mark as of early October. To cater to this massive appetite, the automaker has ramped up its production capacities to prevent prolonged waiting periods for buyers.

Market experts attribute this phenomenal surge to sustained consumer confidence, attractive financing options, and the unmatched fuel efficiency that Maruti vehicles consistently offer. Dealership networks across the country are operating at peak capacity to manage deliveries and customer inquiries.

New Maruti Brezza Facelift Emerges as the Star Performer

At the heart of this sales momentum is the newly launched Maruti Brezza facelift. This compact SUV has captured the imagination of Indian buyers, accumulating over 95,000 bookings so far, with numbers expected to breach the 1-lakh milestone imminently. In September alone, the company retailed more than 15,000 units of the Brezza.

The compact SUV alone accounts for nearly half of the total pending bookings currently held by the carmaker. Its striking exterior styling, feature-rich cabin, and versatile powertrain options have made it a favorite among both urban commuters and families.

Underbody CNG Tank and Turbo Petrol Engine Innovations

A major catalyst for the Brezza's stellar run is the introduction of new mechanical setups. Maruti Suzuki has introduced a 1.0-liter turbo-petrol engine alongside an innovative underbody CNG tank layout. The repositioned CNG cylinder addresses a long-standing consumer grouse by preserving ample boot space.

Booking trends indicate that the CNG variant commands a dominant 40 percent share, followed closely by the 1.0-liter turbo petrol at 38 percent, while the traditional 1.5-liter naturally aspirated engine accounts for the remaining 22 percent.

Impressive Fuel Economy Meets Competitive Pricing

Fuel efficiency remains a cornerstone of Maruti's appeal. The Brezza CNG delivers an impressive mileage of 26.9 kilometers per kilogram, while the turbo-petrol variant claims a respectable 20.47 kilometers per liter. Priced competitively between Rs 7.5 lakh and Rs 13.7 lakh (ex-showroom), the SUV offers tremendous value across its trims.

"The overwhelming response to our latest models reflects our commitment to offering cutting-edge technology, great fuel efficiency, and modern design. We have scaled up our manufacturing output to ensure timely festival deliveries." — Partho Banerjee, Senior Executive Officer (Marketing & Sales), Maruti Suzuki

Production Boost to Tackle Long Waiting Lists

Responding to the heavy order influx, Maruti Suzuki has elevated its production targets. Output for the compact SUV has been stepped up from 50,000 units to 56,000 units per month, primarily driven by operations at facilities like the Kharkhoda plant. This strategic move aims to streamline inventory supply during the peak purchasing months.

Strong Overall Performance and Baleno's Success

Beyond SUVs, the updated Maruti Baleno has also made a roaring debut, clocking around 25,000 units in its very first month. Overall, Maruti Suzuki reported total sales of 2,36,013 vehicles in September, including domestic dispatches and a robust export volume of 44,219 units, highlighting the brand's enduring global and domestic dominance.
