Religious and spiritual centers across the country often face security vulnerabilities, and a recent spine-chilling incident in Rajasthan has shaken the entire community. In the famous pilgrimage site of Borkhandi Dham situated in the hills of Lohargal, an elderly saint was brutally murdered. This audacious crime was executed as a calculated conspiracy by a perpetrator who eyed the temple offerings under the guise of faith. The local police acted swiftly, solving this blind murder mystery within five days and apprehending the primary accused.
A Sinister Conspiracy at a Sacred Pilgrimage Site
The incident came to light when Saint Surjadas Maharaj went missing under mysterious circumstances from Borkhandi Dham. When local devotees and disciples noticed his absence, they immediately informed the police. Taking the matter with utmost seriousness, the police launched a comprehensive search operation assisted by FSL teams, dog squads, and cyber cells. During the search, the saint's body was recovered from a deep ravine in the Borkhandi hills, sending shockwaves and grief throughout the region.
Preliminary investigations immediately indicated that this was no ordinary accident, but a premeditated homicide. Technical evidence and call detail records revealed startling facts. Authorities discovered that the perpetrator had conducted a recce of the area multiple times before executing the heinous crime, planning meticulously to loot the donations.
Recced Twice and Executed the Heinous Plan
Police interrogation revealed shocking details about the mindset of the accused, Suresh Kumar. Before committing the crime, he had visited the hills a few days prior to study the terrain and the daily routine at the ashram. He monitored the movement of pilgrims and kept track of the offerings accumulated at the dham. Knowing that the elderly saint lived entirely alone, the accused saw an opportunity for quick monetary gain.
On the fateful night, the accused once again reached the hilltop and spent the night alongside Saint Surjadas Maharaj without raising any suspicion. Police stated that this calculated approach highlights the cunning nature of the accused, who was driven purely by greed.
Robbery Attempt and Fatal Confrontation
On the morning of the incident, the accused locked the saint inside a bathroom to prevent any interference while he searched for donation boxes and cash. However, the resilient saint managed to break free and caught the intruder red-handed, strongly opposing the robbery. Enraged by the resistance, the accused dragged the elderly saint to the edge of the hill and pushed him into a deep ravine, resulting in fatal injuries.
