Skoda Slavia Facelift Production Kicks Off in Pune
Skoda Auto Volkswagen India has officially begun manufacturing the much-awaited Slavia Facelift at its production facility located in Chakan, Pune. Ahead of the upcoming festive season, the automaker is gearing up to introduce this premium mid-size sedan to the Indian automotive market. Following recent market moves by competitors, Skoda is positioning its updated sedan to capture significant attention in a highly contested segment.
The company has officially announced that the Skoda Slavia Facelift will hit Indian showrooms on October 6. Anticipation among automotive enthusiasts is running high, and the brand has already commenced official pre-bookings. Interested buyers can reserve their vehicle by paying a token amount of Rs 15,000 at authorized dealerships or through digital platforms.
Sharper Exterior Styling and Premium Design Elements
Compared to its predecessor, the facelifted model boasts a much sharper and more aggressive aesthetic appeal. Significant cosmetic updates have been introduced to the front and rear fascias. The vehicle features newly designed LED headlights, restyled bumpers, and updated taillamps that elevate its premium road presence significantly.
In terms of side profile enhancements, the car rides on freshly styled 16-inch alloy wheels. The taillamps now incorporate sequential turn indicators, adding a modern touch. Furthermore, Skoda has introduced fresh paint options, including Arctic Silver and Cappuccino Beige, giving buyers more customized choices.
Upgraded Interior and Comfort Features
Inside the cabin, the layout remains familiar, yet crucial technology upgrades have been implemented. The infotainment duties are now managed by a slightly larger 10.1-inch touchscreen system supporting wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Additionally, the digital driver's display has been enlarged to 10.25 inches for better legibility and modern graphics.
Comfort has been given paramount importance, with features like a single-pane sunroof, a 360-degree camera system, powered and ventilated front seats, and a first-in-class rear-seat massage function. Skoda has also upgraded the air conditioning system by replacing the fixed-geometry compressor with a variable-geometry unit, resolving previous cooling complaints.
Powertrain Options and New Transmission
Under the bonnet, the Slavia Facelift retains its reliable engine portfolio. The 1.0-litre turbo-petrol engine produces 115 hp and 178 Nm of torque, and it is now paired with a new 8-speed automatic gearbox alongside the existing 6-speed manual. Meanwhile, the more powerful 1.5-litre turbo-petrol engine churns out 150 hp and 250 Nm, mated exclusively to a 7-speed DCT automatic transmission.
Positioned strongly in the mid-size sedan category, the updated Slavia will rival cars like the Honda City, Hyundai Verna, and its cousin, the Volkswagen Virtus. With competitive pricing expected, it aims to dominate the festive season sales.
