Daylight robbery shocks the city as cash employees lose 21 lakhs
In a brazen daylight heist, two criminals on a motorcycle intercepted private company employees and decamped with cash worth 21.40 lakh rupees meant for ATM replenishment. The incident has sent shockwaves through the region, prompting local law enforcement to seal borders and launch an intensive manhunt to nab the culprits.
According to preliminary details, the employees had just withdrawn the hefty amount from a bank branch to load various automated teller machines ahead of extended festive holidays. The sudden attack highlights potential vulnerabilities in cash transit security protocols for private service providers.
How the daring heist unfolded on a busy route
The victims were travelling on a two-wheeler carrying the cash bag when they were waylaid near a prominent temple stretch. The pillion riders forcefully shoved their bike, causing both employees to crash onto the asphalt before snatching the bag and speeding away into anonymity.
"We had withdrawn a larger sum than usual because banks were scheduled to remain closed for consecutive days during the upcoming holidays. They targeted us right in the middle of our transit route." — Vijay Kumar, Victimized Cash Employee
Police probe security lapses and scour CCTV footage
Senior police officials rushed to the scene immediately following the distress call. Investigators are currently scrutinizing multiple CCTV camera feeds along the escape route and questioning agency officials regarding the lack of armed escort or secure transport for moving such a significant cash amount.
