In a major crackdown against the drug menace, the Panchkula Police has arrested a drug peddler and recovered 256 grams of heroin from his possession. The operation was carried out by Crime Branch-1 under the ongoing special campaign led by Police Commissioner Pankaj Nain.
Acting on a tip-off near Mattewali flyover
Crime Branch-1 received confidential information that a suspicious person was standing near the Mattewali flyover on the Panchkula-Yamunanagar main road. Acting swiftly, a police team led by In-charge Manoj Kumar reached the spot and apprehended the suspect. During the search, 256 grams of high-quality heroin was recovered from him.
Amritsar connection and modus operandi
The accused has been identified as 24-year-old Mohit Kumar, a resident of village Shyamtu in Panchkula. During initial interrogation, it was revealed that Mohit procured the contraband from Amritsar. He used to pack the heroin into small 1-gram sachets and sell them in Panchkula, Dhakoli, Zirakpur, and nearby regions for Rs 2500 per gram.

Strict legal action underway
A case under the stringent NDPS Act has been registered against the accused at the Chandimandir police station. Police officials stated that further interrogations are underway to expose all other associates linked with this interstate drug supply chain.
