Renowned playback singer and the winner of the very first season of 'Indian Idol', Abhijeet Sawant, is once again in the headlines as he prepares for his upcoming stint in 'Indian Idol Legends'. Before the show goes on air, Abhijeet took a trip down memory lane, reflecting on his early days of struggling, performing at small local events and pandals, and finding sheer joy in minimal earnings accompanied by public appreciation.
Talking to a news agency, Abhijeet shared, "When I got the opportunity to sing on small stages, that used to be the happiest day of my life. I still remember performing at small gatherings and pandals where sometimes I was paid 100 rupees, and sometimes someone would happily hand over a 50-rupee note, tucking it into my pocket and saying, 'Go son, buy yourself something to eat today.'"
Ups and Downs and the Power of Audience Support
The singer noted that he has experienced multiple ups and downs over the years, but the love and encouragement he received during tough times continue to inspire him. He stated that whenever bad days hit, he reflects on the emotions and hope given to him by people who believed in his potential. That hope remains deeply embedded in his heart to this day.
Highlighting the audience as his true source of strength, Abhijeet compared their presence in his life to that of the Almighty. He added that their unwavering support drives him to work harder and constantly improve as an artist. "If we have never seen God, our audience is what we see... and they are no less than God to me, which is why I keep working hard for myself every single day," he said.
