Poonam Pandey Criticizes Cockroach Janta Party
The political atmosphere in the national capital has heated up significantly over the past few weeks, with various groups staging protests and demonstrations. However, political equations are shifting rapidly, and faces that once openly supported certain factions are now stepping back and questioning their motives.
Actress Poonam Pandey, who had visited Jantar Mantar a few months ago to express solidarity with the protesters during the NEET paper leak agitation, has now openly condemned the actions of the Cockroach Janta Party (CJP). Her sharp turnaround highlights the growing disillusionment among individuals who initially backed these demonstrations but now find the current political trajectory objectionable.
From Student Solidarity to Political Outrage
During the peak of the NEET protests in June and July, Jantar Mantar became the focal point for students demanding transparency and action. Several public figures, including Poonam Pandey, had visited the site to show support for the students' genuine grievances. At that time, the focus was strictly centered around educational reforms and fairness for aspirants.
However, over the past few months, the core agenda of the protests appeared to shift dramatically. With CJP demanding the resignation of the Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) and the Prime Minister, public sentiment began to turn. Poonam Pandey noted that the current nature of the protests has completely lost its original purpose and has turned into unnecessary political posturing.
Condemning Demands for Prime Minister's Resignation
Expressing her strong disapproval, Poonam Pandey questioned the rationale behind demanding the resignation of the country's top leadership without any valid constitutional justification. She stated that such extreme demands trivialized genuine governance issues and turned serious democratic processes into a spectacle.
"It is nothing short of a joke. People just stand up and demand the Prime Minister's resignation out of nowhere. Do they realize who they are talking about? He is the Prime Minister of the country. That is not how a nation functions." — Poonam Pandey, Actress
She also criticized foreign elements attempting to meddle in India's internal affairs, emphasizing that domestic political matters should remain within the purview of the nation's citizens and established democratic institutions.
Local Opposition in Connaught Place
The friction surrounding the CJP's campaigns extended beyond verbal criticism. When the party recently called for supporters to gather at Connaught Place's Central Park for a flag-hoisting demonstration, they faced massive pushback from local business owners and citizens.
Traders and residents in Connaught Place raised slogans in support of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the Delhi Police, rejecting the disruptive political events in their commercial hub. Anticipating law and order issues, Delhi Police detained key leaders including Abhijit Dipke and Neha Bora before they could reach the venue, resulting in a very thin turnout of supporters.
