The hype surrounding big star vehicles has reached new heights, with pan-India releases drawing massive crowds on opening days. Following the massive buzz of recent action dramas, Telugu star Nani arrived with his high-profile film 'The Paradise'. Despite having no official trailer, the film managed to create immense anticipation among fans thanks to its catchy music and star power.
A Disjointed World and Weak Narrative
Set in the 1980s in Secunderabad, Andhra Pradesh, the story revolves around a marginalized community fighting for their identity against a ruthless oppressor named Malik (Mohan Babu). Jadal (Nani) and his mother Shamakka (Sonali Kulkarni) live in this very slum. Jadal grows up to become the messiah for his people, locking horns with Malik and his son Vikram (Raghav Juyal).
Director Srikanth Odela attempts to tell the story through chapters, but the narrative feels scattered and tedious. Excessive slow-motion scenes, loud action choreography, and over-dramatic sequences turn the viewing experience into a headache. Even the usually reliable music and background score by Aniruddh Ravichander fail to save the film from its predictable and poorly executed plot.
Nani Shines, But Villains Lack Punch
On the performance front, Nani carries the entire film on his shoulders, well-supported by Sonali Kulkarni. However, Raghav Juyal's character is severely underwritten, offering very little scope for performance, and his abrupt end will likely leave fans disappointed. Mohan Babu commands screen presence initially, but falls flat due to lackluster character development.
