A high-speed luxury BMW car met with a horrific accident on Mumbai's Coastal Road early Sunday morning. Traveling from Marine Drive towards Haji Ali, the out-of-control vehicle crashed through the bridge railing and plunged off the flyover. The tragic accident claimed the lives of three people, while one young man remains in critical condition on ventilator support. A spine-chilling CCTV footage capturing the entire incident has now gone viral on social media.
Horrifying Details of the Crash
The accident occurred around 5:20 AM near Lotus Jetty close to Lala Lajpat Rai College. According to initial reports, the vehicle was being driven at a dangerous speed. Near a sharp turn, the driver lost control, causing the BMW to strike the divider, become airborne, and plummet off the bridge. The impact was so severe that the car was reduced to a mangled heap of metal. Police and rescue teams rushed to the spot immediately after receiving the alert.
Victims Identified by Police
The injured occupants were pulled from the wreckage and rushed to Nair Hospital, where doctors declared three of them dead on arrival. The deceased have been identified as 17-year-old Dhairya Darshan Seth, 19-year-old Aditya Jaksania, and 21-year-old Shanay Gajar. Meanwhile, 23-year-old Aditya Kalpeshwar Oswal sustained severe injuries and is currently fighting for his life on life support.
Speed Exceeded 200 KM/H
Police reports indicate that the BMW was clocking speeds in excess of 200 kilometers per hour. The extreme velocity made it impossible for the driver to negotiate the turn. The vehicle first collided with the road divider and an electric pole before careening off the bridge structure. The luxury vehicle, bearing registration number DD01-C-6302, is registered in Dadra and Nagar Haveli under the name Falgun Gajar. Tardeo Police are conducting a thorough investigation into the tragedy.
