Health Initiative for Roadways Staff in Sonebhadra
In a commendable initiative by the health department and transport corporation, a special health and HIV awareness camp was organized at the roadways depot in Sonebhadra district. The primary objective of this camp was to examine the health of bus drivers, conductors, and other staff members who constantly travel long distances, and to raise awareness about HIV/AIDS.
Focus on the Well-being of Drivers and Conductors
Roadways employees often stay away from their homes and travel long hours, making them vulnerable to lifestyle and health issues due to irregular routines. A specialized medical team visited the depot to conduct general health checkups, including blood pressure, blood sugar, and HIV screening tests for the staff.
Awareness is the Best Protection
Medical officers present at the camp emphasized that HIV/AIDS can be prevented through proper awareness and precautions. They educated the employees on safe practices and the importance of timely diagnosis. Leaflets containing detailed information on the causes, symptoms, and prevention of HIV were also distributed among the workers.
