Massive Student Mobilization at Patthar Girja Ghar
A massive protest rally was organized by the Bharatiya Vidyarthi Morcha at the prominent Patthar Girja Ghar protest site in Civil Lines, Prayagraj. Hundreds of students and youth activists gathered to voice their anger against soaring unemployment, the privatization of education, and the National Education Policy 2020.
The protestors raised slogans demanding the immediate withdrawal of the approximately 52 percent seat reduction in undergraduate and postgraduate courses at Allahabad University. Additionally, they pressed for the prompt commencement of teacher recruitment processes, stringent safety measures for female students, and a monthly unemployment allowance for jobless youths.
Outcry Over Seat Reductions and Privatization
Speakers at the gathering emphasized that the rapid commercialization of education poses a severe threat to the futures of poor and middle-class students. Reducing seats in higher educational institutions shrinks opportunities for academic growth, while administrative delays in recruitment leave the younger generation deeply frustrated.
The student leaders urged the government to take serious note of these pressing issues and act swiftly to protect youth interests. The demonstration served as a strong warning that educational rights cannot be compromised under the garb of policy reforms.
