He revealed that the marriage lasted for barely a single day before the actor decided to walk away from the relationship, leaving fans surprised at how quickly a multi-year romance dissolved.
A Secret Temple Wedding in Lucknow
According to family accounts, Anupam and Madhumalti were in a relationship for roughly two to three years before tying the knot. Deciding to take the plunge suddenly while Anupam was in Shimla and Madhumalti was in Lucknow, the two opted for a quiet temple wedding without informing their families.
Not a single family member or relative was present during the ceremony. It was a spontaneous decision made entirely by the couple themselves. However, the bliss of the wedding did not even last for twenty-four hours as reality quickly set in.
Why Did the Marriage Collapse Instantly?
While previous reports suggested the marriage lasted about a year, Raju Kher firmly corrected the narrative, stating that it collapsed within a single day. The very next morning, Anupam left the place and decided he could not continue with the union.
Raju noted that while he never probed deeply into the exact reasons behind the sudden fallout, he respected their privacy. Following the annulment, Madhumalti went on to marry writer-director Ranjit Kapoor, while Anupam eventually married Kirron Kher, building a lasting partnership that continues to inspire fans today.
