Phoolan Devi Threat in Badaun: Crying Girl Blames Officials for Burning Hut During Land Dispute

Tension Erupts Over Land Measurement in Badaun

A dramatic incident from Badaun district in Uttar Pradesh has taken the internet by storm after a local girl's video went viral against the backdrop of a burning hut. The confrontation between local villagers and administrative authorities during a land measurement drive in Kadrachowk police station area has triggered a massive debate on social media.

The roots of this conflict trace back to a property dispute between two parties in Labhari village. Minor land boundaries often spark friction in rural regions, but this particular case escalated into a direct confrontation between the local residents and the revenue-police joint team.

The Viral Video and the 'Phoolan Devi' Threat

In the widely circulated video, a young woman named Shivani Kashyap is seen standing furiously in front of a blazing hut. Visibly distraught and angry, she directly accused the police and revenue officials of forcibly entering their premises and setting the temporary structure on fire.

Escalating her protest, Shivani made a striking remark, declaring that she would take matters into her own hands and seek vengeance like the dacoit-turned-politician Phoolan Devi. Her fiery statements immediately caught the attention of netizens, turning a localized property dispute into a major talking point.

Police Clarification and Counter-Claims

Rejecting all allegations, local law enforcement authorities asserted that the claims made by the family are entirely false. According to the police, the administrative team did not start any fire; rather, the incident was staged to obstruct official duties and falsely implicate the government personnel.

Police records indicate that the dispute began on September 29 when a local woman named Nanni Devi filed an application for land demarcation. Although the revenue team successfully measured the land and granted possession, subsequent tensions flared up the very next day when opposition parties allegedly destroyed newly laid foundations.

Legal Action and Subsequent Arrests

Following the chaos on October 1, when officials attempted to resume their duties, the situation deteriorated further resulting in the mysterious fire. Based on an official complaint filed by the area's lekhal, the police registered a formal case and swiftly arrested five individuals connected to the disturbance.

Authorities have stated that thorough investigations are underway to determine the exact cause of the fire and verify all conflicting claims. Meanwhile, adequate police force remains deployed in the village to maintain peace and order.
