Bank customers across the country are likely to face significant disruptions in banking services during the final week of September. The United Forum of Bank Unions (UFBU) has proposed a three-day nationwide strike from September 28 to 30, which could directly impact everyday financial transactions, loan EMIs, and branch services.

Three-Day Nationwide Strike Announced

UFBU, representing nearly 90 percent of officers and employees in the banking sector, has decided to go on strike due to pending long-standing demands. Branch-based services such as cash deposits, cheque clearances, and KYC updates are expected to be severely hampered during these three days.

Potential Five-Day Banking Disruption

Since the strike begins on a Monday (September 28) and is preceded by the fourth Saturday (September 26) and Sunday (September 27), many customers might face a continuous five-day closure of physical bank branches in several states. Customers are strongly advised to complete all urgent branch-related paperwork by Friday, September 25.

Digital Services to Remain Operational

While physical branches will remain closed, digital banking channels including UPI, net banking, mobile applications, and ATMs are expected to function normally. Banks have urged customers to utilize digital platforms for fund transfers and bill payments, while ensuring sufficient balance for auto-debits like EMIs and SIPs.
