Political tensions in Bihar have escalated significantly following sharp remarks from Union Minister and Lok Janshakti Party (Ram Vilas) chief Chirag Paswan regarding the state's deteriorating law and order situation. Paswan's public expression of shame and unease over supporting a government struggling to curb rising crime has created ripples within the ruling NDA coalition. Responding to these developments, Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) senior leader and Rajya Sabha MP Sanjay Singh launched a scathing attack on the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), claiming that Paswan is now acknowledging the very issues that the opposition has been raising for a long time.
Sanjay Singh Highlights Opposition's Stance Through Paswan's Remarks
Speaking to the media, Sanjay Singh pointed out that Chirag Paswan's concerns are no longer restricted to local policing but extend to core ideological matters such as the protection of the constitution and reservation policies. The AAP leader stated that the opposition has consistently warned the public about the ruling dispensation's alleged intentions to dilute constitutional safeguards. According to Singh, when a key ally like Chirag Paswan openly speaks out about administrative failures and social atrocities, it validates the opposition's persistent claims regarding governance deficits in the state.
The controversy gained further momentum as Singh recalled previous statements made by Bihar Deputy Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary, who had earlier assured that stern accountability would be fixed in cases of crimes against women, even offering to resign if such incidents persisted. Singh questioned the silence of top leaders now, pointing out that disturbing videos depicting harassment and mistreatment of women are surfacing openly across various districts of Bihar, leaving citizens in a state of deep insecurity.
Questions Raised Over Electoral Integrity and SIR Controversy
Beyond state-level law and order concerns, Sanjay Singh expanded his critique to national issues, specifically targeting the Election Commission and raising questions surrounding recent electoral processes. The AAP parliamentarian questioned why the ruling party frequently comes forward to defend the poll panel, alleging that such vocal backing hints at a lack of genuine neutrality in conducting free and fair elections across the country.
Singh alleged that large-scale manipulation has taken place in recent electoral exercises across several states, including Delhi, Bihar, West Bengal, Haryana, Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan, and Chhattisgarh. He claimed that the deliberate deletion of lakhs of legitimate voters' names from electoral rolls systematically tilts electoral outcomes in favor of the ruling alliance, thereby undermining the foundational principles of Indian democracy.
