Dayanand Shetty, who became a household name across India playing the iconic inspector Daya in the long-running television show 'CID', has made startling revelations about the lifestyle and extravagant demands of Bollywood celebrities. Known for his grounded persona and successful transitions into films like Rohit Shetty's 'Singham' and Netflix's 'Single Papa', Shetty recently spoke at length about the rampant entourage culture prevalent in the film industry.
During a candid interview, the veteran actor discussed the unseen realities of Bollywood sets. While the audience sees the glitz and glamour on screen, the backstage environment often involves a massive supporting cast catering solely to the actors' personal whims. One of the most astonishing revelations made by Shetty was regarding how stars treat their pet dogs on shooting locations.
Dedicated Nannies and Styling for Celebrity Pets
According to Dayanand Shetty, many prominent actors bring their pet dogs along to the sets. These pets are not just casual companions; they come with their own dedicated staff, including a 'nanny' whose sole job is to walk the dog, feed it on time, and ensure it remains comfortable throughout the day.
Describing the lavish setup, Shetty noted, "Now it has become like this because this is the environment they grew up in. If I am a star and an actor, I have to project that lifestyle. For everything, there is a designated person. From water to bags, there are separate people for everyone. Some people even bring their pet dogs to the sets."
High-End Fashion and Makeup for Animal Companions
The luxury doesn't stop at mere presence. Shetty further disclosed that these pets are treated with immense pampering, wearing expensive designer clothes and even stylish sunglasses. In some cases, makeup artists are roped in to prep the animals before they make an appearance around the cameras.
"In the middle of a shoot, they ask for their dog to be brought to them and spend some time playing with it. There is a nanny for the dog who takes it for walks and feeds it. The dog wears nice clothes, it even wears sunglasses. Not just that, some people even get makeup done for their dogs and bring them along." — Dayanand Shetty, Actor
Shetty humorously remarked that sometimes he wonders how lucky those dogs are, admitting that while thinking about it can occasionally feel disheartening, most people simply choose to ignore it. He is not the first industry insider to raise concerns about the staggering entourage costs; several filmmakers and producers have previously voiced their frustrations regarding these mounting overhead expenses.
