Understanding the 'Hamare Smarak Hamara Gaurav' Scheme
The newly launched initiative is titled the 'Hamare Smarak Hamara Gaurav' scheme, implemented under the Delhi Chief Minister Heritage Revival Scheme. According to the guidelines, the government will generally bear 75 percent of the project cost and provide a maximum financial assistance of up to Rs 2 crore per project in a single financial year.
Registered voluntary organizations, trusts, and non-profit entities actively involved in heritage conservation are eligible to apply for this funding. This monetary support will ensure that organizations do not face resource shortages while bringing historical buildings back to their original glory.
90% Funding for Category-A Monuments and 100% for Government Bodies
A key highlight of the scheme is the tiered funding structure based on the categorization of monuments and the implementing agency. For Category-A monuments, the government will provide up to 90 percent of the conservation cost to ensure high-priority protection of sensitive historical sites.
On the other hand, if a government institution or body undertakes the preservation project, it will receive 100 percent full funding from the government. This provision ensures seamless execution without any financial roadblocks, maintaining utmost transparency and efficiency.
