Major road accident on Purvanchal Expressway in Sultanpur

A tragic road accident on the Purvanchal Expressway in the Sultanpur district of Uttar Pradesh has left the entire nation in shock. A family returning home with the mortal remains of an Indian Army Subedar Major, who passed away in Chandigarh, met with a devastating collision. The horrific accident claimed the lives of four people, including the soldier's son and brother, plunging their native village into deep mourning.

The accident occurred near milestone 79.6 under the Haliapur police station limits on the Purvanchal Expressway. According to local police and administrative officials, the speeding ambulance was struck by an unidentified vehicle, causing the driver to lose control. The vehicle veered off and crashed violently into a stationary truck parked on the roadside, turning the ambulance into a mangled heap of metal.

Family returning home with the soldier's mortal remains

Subedar Major Satyawan Singh, a native of Gahila-Dudhela village in the Deoria district, was serving in the Indian Army and was currently posted in Chandigarh. He had been suffering from prolonged illness related to kidney complications and was undergoing treatment at a military hospital in Chandigarh. Despite best medical efforts, he succumbed to his illness, leaving his family shattered.

As the family prepared to bring his body back to his native village for final rites, several relatives traveled to Chandigarh to accompany the convoy. The soldier's wife, Pinki Singh, and daughter, Diksha Singh, were traveling behind the ambulance in a separate private vehicle.

Four lives lost in a fraction of a second

Authorities confirmed that the soldier's 18-year-old son, Gaurav Singh, and the ambulance driver, Jaspal, died on the spot. Seriously injured family members Ramsumujh Singh and relative Rajan Choudhary were rushed to a nearby hospital in Ayodhya, where they succumbed to their injuries during treatment.

Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath expressed profound grief over the tragedy and directed district authorities to provide all possible assistance to the grieving family. Local police have launched an investigation using CCTV footage to trace the unidentified vehicle responsible for the crash.
