In an effort to counter soaring inflation and ease the financial burden on citizens, the government has stepped in with a series of market intervention measures. Essential food items, particularly quality rice and pulses, will now be made available to the public at heavily discounted rates through cooperative and authorized distribution centers.
Subsidized Rice and Essential Pulses
To combat high market prices where basic commodities had become exceedingly expensive, the administration decided to distribute quality raw and boiled rice at just Rs 30 per kilogram. Along with rice, staple items like arhar dal and other pulses are being provisioned at controlled rates through state-run cooperative outlets to ensure kitchen budgets remain manageable for common families.
Crackdown on Hoarding and Black Marketing
The government has adopted a zero-tolerance policy towards hoarding and artificial price inflation. A dedicated monitoring committee has been established to track price fluctuations of essential commodities on a weekly basis. Strict legal actions have been warned against traders engaging in malpractices or trying to exploit market demand.
Ensuring Robust Supply and Buffer Stocks
Authorities have assured that adequate buffer stocks of crucial items including edible oils, sugar, and pulses have been securely maintained for the upcoming months. This proactive approach ensures uninterrupted distribution through the public distribution network, providing long-term stability to retail prices.
