Hezbollah Announces $14,000 Compensation for Families Whose Homes Were Destroyed in Israeli Airstrikes

Amid the aftermath of the intense conflict with Israel, Hezbollah has announced financial compensation for families in Lebanon whose homes were completely destroyed or rendered uninhabitable. The head of Hezbollah's executive council declared that affected families will receive financial assistance of up to 14,000 US dollars.

Criticism of the Lebanese Government

During a press conference, Ali Damoush levelled several accusations against the Lebanese government, stating that it has failed to fulfill its responsibilities in assisting displaced citizens. He detailed that families in Beirut and its southern suburbs whose homes were ruined will receive $14,000, while affected families in other parts of Lebanon will be granted $12,000.

Out of this total amount, $8,000 is designated strictly for furniture, while the remaining sum is intended to cover rental expenses. Although the exact number of beneficiary families remains unannounced, reports suggest the funds originate from Iran, which has provided billions of dollars and weaponry to Hezbollah for decades.

Displacement and International Stance

The move is seen as an effort by the Iran-backed group to reinforce its domestic support base while challenging both the Lebanese government and U.S. efforts to curtail its funding. According to the International Organization for Migration (IOM), approximately 1.2 million people were displaced at the peak of the conflict.

While most residents have returned home following the ceasefire, over 300,000 individuals remain displaced. Despite warnings and pressure from international and American officials regarding financial blockades, Hezbollah leadership maintains its commitment to assisting displaced families and helping them rebuild their normal lives.
