Launch of Sukhi Parivar Yojana Postponed in Himachal
The much-anticipated launch of the 'Mukhamantri Apna Parivar Sukhi Parivar Yojana' by the Himachal Pradesh government has been temporarily postponed. Initially scheduled for October 2nd on the occasion of Gandhi Jayanti in Solan, the inauguration date had to be pushed back due to administrative and political schedules. To give the welfare initiative a major national footprint, the state leadership has planned to have Congress General Secretary and MP Priyanka Gandhi Vadra inaugurate the scheme. Coordinating her schedule has prompted the shift in the launch timeline. The ruling party aims to deliver a strong message regarding the fulfillment of its pre-poll guarantees through this rollout.
Key Benefits: Financial Aid and Free Electricity
The scheme is designed to offer a dual economic cushion to poor and destitute families in the hilly state. Under this initiative, eligible women will receive a monthly financial assistance of Rs 1,500 directly into their bank accounts. Additionally, eligible households will be provided with up to 300 units of free electricity, fulfilling major electoral promises made by the party.
Survey Identifies 1.80 Lakh Families and 2.50 Lakh Women
A comprehensive panchayat-level survey conducted by the Rural Development Department has identified approximately 1.80 lakh economically weaker families for the free electricity benefit. Furthermore, about 2.50 lakh women have been shortlisted for the monthly financial support, including many who have never benefited from any previous government schemes.
Direct Benefit Transfer and Future Outlook
Rural Development and Panchayati Raj Minister Aniruddh Singh stated that the beneficiary selection process is complete, and the new launch date will be finalized shortly. Funds will be transferred directly via Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) to ensure absolute transparency and zero leakage in implementation.
